Salvation Army Moving Assistance

If you are in need of financial assistance or moving assistance, contact your nearest Salvos Phone Assistance Line. You will need to explain your situation and then they best determine how to help. The Salvation Army Moving Assistance program may include:

Salvation Army Relocation Assistance

Salvation Army relocation assistance typically aims to support individuals and families facing difficulties due to financial hardship, homelessness, domestic violence or emergencies.

Their moving support includes assisting with:

Packing and Unpacking: Volunteers or staff may assist with packing up belongings and unpacking them at the new location. This is a great service for those who are unable to pack themselves or are scared to return to their property to pack up theiri belongings.

Transportation: The service may include transportation of personal items to the new residence, ensuring that individuals do not face the burden of moving heavy or bulky items themselves. Salvation Army Moving Services can assist you with finding a removalist.

Furniture and Household Goods: Assistance may also extend to providing essential items, such as furniture, kitchenware, and bedding, especially for those starting anew after a period of homelessness.

Support Services: Beyond the physical moving support, the Salvation Army may offer counselling and support services to help clients transition smoothly into their new homes.

Salvation Army Financial Assistance

The Salvation Army provides financial assistance in a number of ways including emergency relief for food and day to day living expenses.

In terms of moving support, the No Interest Loan Scheme is probably one of the best resources for those looking for Salvation Army moving support. The NILS is a $2,000 to $3,000 no interest loan that you can put towards housing essentials such as appliances, furniture, bond or rent. It can also assist you with paying for removals and other moving expenses.

If you need to move straight away, you may not be able to take all of your personal belongings with you. The No Interest Loans allow you to purchase the things you need without the stress of interest. You will need to pay the loan back but through a plan that works for you.

The No Interest Loan isn’t just available in emergency situations. It is income tested in some instances, but you may be surprised how inclusive the loan is. Call their National Intake Line on (02) 6241 0518 to learn more about the No Interest Loan Scheme.
