Many grocery stores will also have boxes they may be willing to donate. Your first step is to collect as many boxes as you can. And not just standard cubes either. You’ll need an assortment of box sizes and shapes.

To prevent unwanted bumps and scratches to your furniture, we recommend moving blankets. You can use doona covers and blankets you have at home but you can also buy heavy duty moving blankets that are perfect for protecting furniture, appliances and floors when moving furniture to the truck. 

Packing Tape

Packing tape is sold everywhere as is a dispenser gun. Amazon has a great discount on packing tape with a dispenser gun which will make taping up your boxes actually enjoyable. This is a great task to outsource to your kids! 

Vacuum Bags and Shrink Wrap

Another smart idea is to invest in vacuum bags when moving house. Vacuum bags can be reused over and over again and are great for making space when packing clothing, blankets, etc. You can also use them when packing for travel and when trying to make space in your crowded closets.
